“Lengthen your stride and quicken your pace”

Alma taught in chapter 37: Now ye may suppose that this is afoolishness‍ in me; but behold I say unto you, that by bsmall‍ and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.

Isn't that wonderful? Sometimes I don't feel like I am very capable of reaching lofty goals or making big changes but this verse brings so much hope! Small and simple, one tiny step at a time. It has purposefully been set up this way so everyone can do it and nobody is exempt or excluded.

I love the teachings of the prophet Spencer W. Kimball when he teaches us to "Do It".  Acting on faith, making things happening by getting moving sounds so enabling and hopeful. Faith requires action and action produces change which is necessary because as we know, "the natural man is an enemy to God". His message and call to action in order to create change excites me. I like knowing that I can improve and correct my mistakes or patch up my weaknesses. The state I am in now is not permanent if I have faith, trust that small and simple things can bring change, and get to work; "Do It". I want to get moving faster as I trust that the small things can truly "lengthen your stride and quicken your pace".

I love how encompassing of other comforting gospel principles verse 7 is: " And the Lord God doth work by ameans‍ to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very bsmall‍ means the Lord doth cconfound‍ the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls."

I have learned lots from this verse. Here are a few things I picked out.
#1. God loves His children
#2. He has created a plan for us
#3. Being omnipotent, He could be completely mysterious but to help us understand how we can also create changes and miracles, He works in simple ways.

Some say to believe in yourself but I think we ought to believe in the ability of ourselves to turn to God and trust that many mighty miracles may come if we exercise faith and do the small and simple things. Great things do happen and it's because the Lord is helping us. He is ready, willing, and wanting to so turn to Him and trust!
